Contributions:
Lights Out was developed for the Fitchburg State section of the Global Game Jam 22', over the course of two days by a team of two people. The theme for the Game Jam was Duality.

For this project, I was tasked with being the lead artist for the project, creating all of the 2D assets, along with any animations associated with them.

Lights Out won Best in Show for the Fitchburg State section, and later went on to be accepted in to the Visions Honors Art Show, hosted at Fitchburg State.

Below are some of my contributions, along with a minute of gameplay:

Gameplay:
This gameplay demonstrates basic flow of the game, along with the main light switch mechanic, how it interacts with the player, along with various animations (more below.)
2D Art:
General Assets ~ Player, Enemy, Tilesets
During this project, I was tasked with taking the lead on the main batch of 2D art assets needed. The original vision we landed upon was a minimalist pixelated aesthetic. I created various variants for:
-
Player Model
-
Enemy Model
-
Platforms
-
Environmental hazards
General Assets ~ Titlecard
One of the last pieces I made for the game was a title splash art for the main menu. An emphasis on soft letters with integration of varying elements seen throughout the game, such as the lightbulb, was my main focus.
2D Animation:
Enemy ~ Light switch
The main animation within the game. Played by the enemy model every few seconds, as well as the main gameplay tell for when the platforms would switch. Above is the animation as it appears in game, and to the right is the sprite sheet for the frames of the animation. Heavy emphasis on squash and stretch to give the enemy a sense of floatiness.
Titlecard ~ Splash art
In tandem with the title splash art, we wanted an animation to open the game. I was tasked with integrating the varying elements present within the game into a short animation that would give the players a unique first impression.
